Music is magic

Music Program

Music plays a significant and integral part in the Primary School education offered at QGA. Our aim is to provide students with a high quality music education in an energetic and creative environment.

Unique Music Program

Here at Queens Gate Academy, we believe in the power of music and what it can do for students’ education. Our music program promotes creativity, growth, and discipline as students get to experience different elements of music. We believe that music is essential in the educational and social growth of our students.

At QGA, we offer a solid music program for students in Kindergarten through to Grade 8. Students in Kindergarten learn about the art of music and dance combined. Students in Grade 1 and 2 have the opportunity to learn/play Orff instruments (Xylophones, Metalophones, Bongos, etc). Students in Grade 3 and 4 learn how to simultaneously play the ukulele and sing lyrics to a variety of songs. Students in Grade 5-8 have the amazing opportunity of playing band instruments, which include flutes, clarinets, saxophones, trumpets, trombones, drums, etc.

Students get to showcase their skills at our many concerts and coffee houses.

Private vocal and instrumental studies are offered at QGA. Students who undertake private tuition are encouraged to participate in the School’s various music ensembles, including a symphony orchestra, string orchestras, concert bands, rock bands, chamber groups and choirs. All ensembles perform regularly at evening concerts, assemblies, school functions and community festivals.

Our young musicians are nurtured through regular visits to and from inspirational professional musicians and ensembles, performances at lunchtime concerts and participation in Heads of Independent Co-educational Schools (HICES) music festival.
